Few images i may use

I think this would be a good thumbnail image, but i maybe wouldnt use it as it doesn't have a link to any article.

Same again, its a very good image but not a very productive and article worthy.

This image is way to dark for any article, I wouldnt ever use this on anything.
This picture looks quite educational in a way and I think would fit in a magazine article.

This could be a potentional thumbnail and could go onto a little article about been social at college etc.

This is more a jokey image, maybe for a bit of humor in my magazine.

I personally think this is a really good mcu shot for my front cover, its very nice and appealing. Hes looking straight into the camera, intre

Inspiration for my magazine.

Both these magazine front covers are going to be like my design, where they are doing some interesting activity or holding there colleges book.
Obviously I'm going to have mine in a MCU shot, but i like the fact it like a real magazine, with the masthead at the top, the main image in the center, and contents all around the outsides.
On mine I will include thumbnail images and so on.

Pricing

Pricing for my magazine, since it’s for student of my college I will make it for free.
Most college magazine are free, so I’m going to do this myself as I believe more students will pick a copy up as they wouldn’t even think of bothering if it cost money. It’s going to be a seasonal magazine, so people won’t get bored of some nonsense every week, the ratings would just go so far down.

My Target Audience

My target audience will be mostly for the teenage era, around 16-19. They will be stuff in there for teacher’s information, parents or carers to take interest to.
I mostly want to aim at the C2/D/E of the demographics groups. So the age group maybe from about 15 to 24. I want to appeal to even secondary school children, like year 10’s and 11’s to help make them choose my college.  This would make my audience range a very wide vast one, and appeal to so many people.

My choice of college for my preliminary task!

I'm going to use wyke college as I can use the facillities of wyke college.
I would rather use wyke as I'd have more time on my on drafts of my magazines, could maybe modify my the wyke logo etc.
I could play around with a whole new look.
East Riding College Magazine

Language
The Masthead is directly at the top, in a plain white text. It stands out because theres nothing else around it. The main image is dominant but doesnt show much about a college as it looks like its taken aboard somewhere, it not in a MCU shot. Its in a long shot where everyone backs turned to the audience.
Theres no thumbnail images, they have a clear house-style but of two very boring colours. No price or barcode, no teasing contents, competitions or gifts. Not even a main article, this is a very poor front cover.

Institution
East riding college, the student may have made this as it lacks a lot in quality.

Ideology
I think that the ideology of the magazine is to try make students enjoy college life but it just lacks in everything, its doesnt draw you in the slightest or even tell you anything about the college plus it's very boring and especially not new students or teenagers.

Audience
Obviously its for students, but again lacks in everything, no effort whatsoever, so it wouldnt draw in much attention to students/teachers or people who want to join the college.

Representation
Not very modern, wouldnt appeal to any student i think, i think you’d have to pay student to take a copy

Langauge
The grimsby instition mastheads is ‘GX’ is which very stand out and bold, it’s very smart and effective. Its effective because straight away you know the name/logo of the college. The main image looks like a long shot, under the models to make them look larger and more dominant, you cant see their faces clears as they are in this block colour style. Throughout there is a clear house-style of three persistant colours, blue, black and white. Just there is grey behind the masthead, which does blend pretty well. The front cover also has a couple of thumbnail images, but have no infomation with them. They dont include a bardcode or price on there front cover. No teasing contents along the bottom, or competitions. There isnt no main article on their front cover either,

Ideology
the front cover of this magazine is made to draw in students to join the college, and obviously colleges aged teens. ‘The word on the street’  connotes this as its a slangy teenage term.
Institution
Grimsby Institute. The students of grimsby instituion have made this front cover.
Audience
This is made for students, teacher or people interested in the college and thinking of joining.
Representation
This magazine is very modern and teenage friendly. Its very appealing for students.

liiar analyse

Liiar Analysis
My front cover will include a masthead, with a college icon.  A Bright colour scheme with clear house-style of two or three main colours.
A Thumbnail images that illustrate other articles
Anchorage
Price & barcode
Teasing contents along the bottom
Competitions and free gifts
Main article / feature advertised must relate to the the main image.
Also has to be a medium close up of my image, others images can be different sizes and angles.
A publisher wouldn’t be responsible for the college magazine; it would be an in house publication by the college for the college.
My college magazine will try send out a nice positive vibe and message.
It will try and get student to work harder and more, it would also have this fun enjoying feeling to it. They will be a few students inputting to the magazine so it’s not going to be the same through and have different people personalities.
The target audience will be for all the students of the college, it will cover everything for everyone, it won’t leave anyone and make them feel unwanted or left out by the college.

The masthead will be a large stand out title, it will be nice and appealing for the college student, closer near the masthead will be the college logo. This will let the students know it’s there college, as there used to their own college logo.
Throughout my college booklet it will have a bright colour scheme, with a clear house-style, this will be persistent, and not cause any confusion of different colours everywhere. It will include images on the content page/front cover; these images will have page number with them to show the contents and meaning of these images. The font throughout my college magazine will be century gothic.

My front cover image will be a student attending the college, in a medium close up shot, showing only the shoulders and head. This is to show the model emotions which will be a happy expression, so it’s nice and appealing to the viewer. My student will be stood holding his folders, smiling at the camera or maybe even stood looking directly at the camera with lots of things happening around in the background to make him/her the centre of attention; this will link with the college image and representation of the goings on in the college. The student looking into the camera makes you look like your involved in the image and your right there with them; it could make you think this could be you in the same spot as the model. This creates a happy vibe and atmosphere around the college grounds.
The contents pages will have the page numbers spread around to have this fun vibe to it, but it will also include these thumbnail images to show other articles, like main stories or appealing stories. They will also have captions to read a short brief of these stories; hopefully they would appeal to people who don’t attend the college as well, which may bring them more drawn in to this college.
I would use a barcode maybe if I was going to sell this to people outside the college to bring some profit in for the college, but if I was only going to use it in the college then I would maybe do it for free as it would maybe get out to more student cause it wouldn’t really appeal to student to buy a college magazine.
A big factor I would like to use to bring in student is do a big competition on the front cover, I think this would really appeal, a chance to win something special.

My target audience would be college ages really, 16-19. I would try including in my magazine, things like home help, or like a smoking/drinking problems. Even sexual help if needed, someone to help the students of the college. I’d try include common teenage info like gigs, nights out and local festivals.
